School Attendance
The Education Welfare Act (2000) contains a number of statutory provisions to ensure school attendance: Under Section 18 of the Act parents must notify the school in writing of the reason for a child’s absence. Under Section 24 of the Act, Principals are obliged to notify the Education Welfare Officer of absences exceeding 20 days in the school year (September to June).
Parents are requested to send an email to the school on absences@coolarnens.ie
Collecting your child outside school hours
- Written notification/phone call is required if a child must go home early, g. attend a dental appointment etc.
- The person collecting child must fill out the “sign out” sheet
- Parents who wish their children to be collected by other adults should notify the school.
A child who shows signs of illness should not be sent to school.
