While on our Autumn walk, we noted the colour of the leaves around us and collected some leaves from the sycamore, horse chestnut, laurel, copper beach and ash trees. We came to realise that hurls are made from the wood of an ash tree and we also realised the significance of the copper beech tree to our local area. When we returned to the classroom we made some leaf rubbings and created characters. We then labelled the parts of a tree such as 'bark', 'trunk', 'branch', 'twig', 'leaves' and 'roots'. We had a brilliant time exploring our local environment.
